Founded by Michael Marian in 2010, Marian Built specializes in creating custom environments and furniture, from concept to completion, using locally sourced, reclaimed and up-cycled materials.  Having been on job sites since he was a toddler, and learning to weld at the age of 10 years old, Michael has craftsmanship in his blood. While working in home construction in his 20's, and later building homes as a general contractor, Michael discovered and nurtured his passion for building custom furniture and furnishings. With the support of his girlfriend, and now wife, Kelley, he made Marian Built his full time focus in 2010.

Travis Farber joined Marian Built as a partner soon after, having met Michael while the two were working in home construction. Travis brings more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing, woodworking and fabrication to the team, and has been an integral part of making Marian Built what it is today.

Marian Built is a licensed general contractor and our work ranges from full restaurant and office interiors to custom coffee tables and lighting, and anything in between.  Some of our recently completed projects include Lady Yum, Rock Creek, and Brimmer & Heeltap.

Salvaged materials are part of who we are.  But a rustic, salvaged look does not define us.  Even we are amazed at how beautiful the materials are just underneath the surface.  It's also the best way to enjoy old growth Douglas Fir, a favorite in our shop.

Sustainability is big at Marian Built. We strive to create one-of-a-kind objects and experiences while keeping history from ending up in a landfill. Wood from a weathered barn can become a virtually indestructible, rugged new dining table. An airport gas pump can find a second life as a unique and functional kitchen island. We source as much as possible from the Northwest, and we build it all at our shop in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.
